Who We Are

Howick Community Church is a vibrant, contemporary, independent Christian church located in the heart of the Howick community.

Our main gathering happens on Sundays at 10:00am at the Picton Centre, 120 Picton Street, Howick.

Our Vision

At HCC we seek to be an authentic Christian community committed to helping each person take the next step in their spiritual journey, whether they are just starting to explore the spiritual side of their lives or have been a follower of Christ for many years.

We are also committed to putting our faith into action by extending Christ's love, mercy and justice to people in our local community and throughout the world.

What We Believe

Our beliefs as a church are summarised in the Seven Defining Features (or Values) listed below and in our Statement of Faith (pdf).

We believe that as a community that has been brought into God's family by the grace of God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we are to live by grace and minister the love and compassion of God to others through the power of the Holy Spirit.

We believe that to be consistent with Christ's example, all unnecessary barriers between the church and the secular world need to be removed to make way for the pure gospel which is relevant and contemporary.

We believe that authentic Christian community can occur most naturally in the context of small groups, in addition to larger gatherings.

We believe that spiritual growth is an essential pathway for every follower of Christ.

We believe that every Christian has received gifts from the Holy Spirit to be used in the ministry and mission of the church and to build up the Body of Christ.

We believe that all followers of Jesus are called to lay down their lives sacrificially for the cause of Christ and that this includes the generous giving of our time and resources.

We believe that God has called us to the mission of helping churched and unchurched people become fully devoted followers of Christ.
